Book Review: Trouble in Store

Trouble in Store by Carol Cox is a very well done mystery with some romance sprinkled throughout. I had a hard time figuring out who did what in this book! The author excels at writing great mysteries set in a historical time period.

When Melanie Ross lost her governess position, she decided to travel to her deceased cousin's store and look through the possessions he left her. Once there she finds that her cousin's partner had died a few months ago, and the store is now owned by his nephew, Caleb Nelson. Caleb doesn't want her there messing things up so when Melanie tries to convince him that her cousin left her his part of the store he doesn't believe it. But when she threatens to get the sheriff involved, Caleb reluctantly capitulates.

Melanie immediately starts rearranging things in the store to increase sales which causes all kind of arguments between the two. Caleb quickly realizes her ideas are helping the store bring in more revenue, but he is still determined for her to leave. He starts talking to all the single men about how she wants to get married, and pretty soon Melanie is bombarded with proposals from men she doesn't even know. And to make matters even worse, Melanie discovers a dead man on the back doorstep of the store. As Caleb and Melanie race to find the murderer before their store is destroyed, they learn more about each other and find love in the midst of a threatening town.

I really enjoyed this book! It was fun and had a great mystery to solve. Plus, the characters were likable, and I loved learning more about Arizona's history. :-)

I was given this book free from NetGalley as long as I give an honest review.
