Historical Fiction Review

To Love and Cherish by Tracie Peterson and Judith Miller is an okay book. It's not horrible, but it's not awesome either. lol But I'm one of those rare people who doesn't seem to enjoy Tracie Peterson books very much so take that into consideration with this review. :-)  Anyway, it's the 2nd book in the Bridal Veil Island series. They seem stand alone to me so you don't have to worry if you've read them in order or not. I liked that about this series.

Melinda Colson is a lady's maid to Mrs. Mifflin who vacations on Bridal Veil Island in the winters. She hates leaving the island because it means she has to leave Evan, the man she loves. Evan is the island's gamekeeper and loves Melinda for her openness and honesty, but when Melinda tries to hint on their last day together that she doesn't want to leave Evan doesn't get the hint that she wants him to propose. ;-) So Melinda leaves in a little bit of a huff and Evan goes home all confused.

Once back in Cleveland, Melinda hears that the South got hit by a very bad hurricane. Worried, she quits her job and leaves for Georgia with her brother as chaperone. Will Evan be happy Melinda rushed to his side or upset that she quit her secure job? You'll have to read the book to find out. :-)

I thought the book was a bit slow and that it was a boring concept. And I usually love historical fiction, too! Oh, well....

I was given this book free as long as I review it.
