Another Book Review

Kim Vogel Sawyer has done it again! Song of my Heart was really good. It's set in the 1890s and is about a woman named Sadie. Sadie's father is bedridden from an accident leaving them with no means of support. There aren't any decent jobs left for women so they aren't sure what to do until Sadie's cousin, Sid, writes of a job oppurtunity in Goldtree. She would be working as a clerk in a mercantile, and possibly be able to sing in the opera house that just opened.  Even though she would be far away, her parents gave her their blessing b/c of the chance for her to sing.

Thad McKane was asked to go to Goldtree to investigate bootlegging which had recently been outlawed. The city council made him sherrif to help in disguising his true purpose there. When Sadie came to town, suddenly Goldtree didn't seem like such a bad place to be.

Sadie does become an opera singer once she gets to Goldtree, but the owner wants her to not only sing on Friday and Saturday nights but to a special audience on Tuesday nights, too. She declines, but soon after recieves a letter of bad news! She decides to sing every night Asa Baxter requested so she can keep providing for her family. But something very wrong is hapenning on those nights. What should she do?

How the story came to its comclusion was a bit surprising to me. It made me like the book even more. lol Hope you all like it, too. :-)
