Book Review

Wow! I loved this book! The 2 books I've read from Tamera Alexander weren't all that great to me, but this one.... This one was awesome! I'm an artist myself so of course that was a huge draw for me. I was immediately into it, and couldn't wait to see how it would all play out. I love how she ended it - more realistic than some authors out there for sure. Now I'm itching for her next book!

Anyway, A Lasting Impression is about an artist named Claire who works for her father in their art gallery in New Orleans. Ever since her mother died, she has painted copies and forgeries of famous paintings. But their gallery was robbed and her father killed so her uncle sent her to Nashville, TN. Once there she finds she can't stay at the lodgings he provided and manages to find an unlocked door at a church. She decides to sleep there until the morning. When she wakes up, she hears about a job that she is mostly qualified for. With the help of the pastor of the church, she goes to Belmont for an interview from Adelicia Acklen. She gets the job and a new start but is terrified everybody will find out that she used to be a forger. She falls in love with Sutton Monroe who is the manager/attorney of Mrs. Acklen's estate.

Mrs. Acklen and Sutton admire truthfulness more than anything so Claire is torn about what to do. Should she risk everything and tell the truth about her past or pretend it didn't happen and embrace her new life?

The bulk of the book is set in Nashville, TN right after the Civil War in Belmont. The house, or should I say mansion, still exists today.

I absolutely loved this book!!! The characters were so real, and the descriptions of the house and grounds were awesome. It made me want to see Belmont for myself and check more into Adelicia Acklen.

I was given this book free from Bethany House as long as I review it. :-)
