Karen Witemeyer Book Review

Stealing the Preacher is another great book by Karen Witemeyer! It's a funny story line with a satisfying ending. I really liked it. :-)

Crockett Archer is on his way to apply for a preaching position in Brenham, Texas when bandits stop the train. The leader, Silas, said he is only looking for the preacher. Crockett is escorted off and taken to the Bar R ranch where he is presented to Silas's daughter, Joanna. She is dismayed at what her father has done so he says the parson is free to go as long as he talks to Jo first.

While Crockett and Joanna take a walk, she explains about her father. Silas is a reformed bandit thanks to his wife, Martha, and has been for sixteen years. When Joanna's mother died a year ago, she pleaded with Jo to keep praying and talking to her father about Christ.  Jo feels like she is failing at her promise and wants a preacher to start up the church again and help her father out, too.

As Joanna pours out her heart to him, Crockett is touched and assures her he will be praying that the right man will come along. But after Crockett leaves, he finds out the town he was traveling to chose another preacher! Back he goes to start up that empty church and help Joanna in her mission to save her father. Will they finally break through to Silas?

Don't miss this book! It's a perfect beach read, too. :-)

I was given this book free from NetGalley (courtesy of Bethany House) as long as I review it. I am not required to give a positive review.
