Book Review

The Realms Thereunder by Ross Lawhead was awesome!!! I absolutely loved it!

This book is about 13 year olds Daniel Tully and Freya Reynolds, and it alternates between past and present. In the past, they were on a field trip to a church when a pasageway appeared in the wall. They went to investigate and after a long walk found 2 sleeping knights who they awakened. They found out from them that the only way they could get back to their world was to go to Nidergeard, an underground city. Once in the city, they find out they are the only ones who can stop the evil man who is besieging Nidergeard. So Daniel, Freya, Ecgbryt, and Swidgar (the 2 knights they awakened) went to get him.

In the present, Daniel is homeless and is noticing some of the bad creatures from the underground world starting to come into today's world. And Freya is a college student at Oxford who is constantly afraid she will go to the other world again. They meet each other for the first time in years and make plans to meet later in a church. But before Freya meets him, she sees him disappear before her eyes! As she stands there confused her tutor rushes up to her and tells her that she is in danger, and he can help her. This is where everything gets really interesting.... Daniel is in another world, and Freya ends up trapped. Who is doing this to them and why?

It is about the battle between good and evil set in a medieval/fantasy world. Evil from the underground is spreading into the world, but why? I don't want to spoil any of the story so go read the book yourself! You won't be disappointed!

I was given this book free as long as I review it.
