Review: Miracle Drug

Image result for miracle drug richard mabry

Miracle Drug by Richard L. Mabry was captivating from beginning to end. This book was in the works before the Ebola scare, but because we did have a deadly, contagious disease in our recent memory, we can remember the anxiety and, therefore, feel for the characters even more since it didn't seem so far-fetched. Plus, it was an edge of the seat kind of book. ;-)

Dr Josh Pearson suddenly becomes the doctor to the former president of the United States after the former doctor died. Awed to be chosen, he immediately gives his new job most of his attention. But when his girlfriend, Rachel Moore, and the president both become deathly ill, Josh has to race the clock to find a cure for them both. Will Josh be able to find a miracle drug before time runs out?

This story was a fast-paced, thrilling read, and I enjoyed the premise of a mystery disease. I liked all the different plots going on at the same time because it added to the suspense and kept me guessing until the end. It was an enthralling story, and I'm sure any suspense fan will love it, too.

I was given this book for free from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Review: Critical Condition

Picture

Critical Condition by Richard Mabry, M.D. is a suspense filled story with a host of interesting characters. Medical mysteries are some of my favorite novels to read so I was thrilled to get a chance to review this book!

Dr Shannon Frasier is enjoying some time off with some of her other surgeon friends when a shot is heard outside her house. They all run outside to see how they can help the injured man, but it is too late. All the memories come rushing back to Shannon of another fateful night years ago. Her fiance's death from a gunshot wound, her inability to help him, her fear of guns ever since, and her inability to be in a committed relationship with her boyfriend, Dr. Mark Gilbert.

Then Shannon's sister, Meghan, gets pulled into the mystery when her ex-boyfriend gets killed, too. Will they be able to get out from the scrutiny of the police or will one of them be arrested?

I really enjoy Dr. Mabry's mysteries. They are so well planned and thought out, and I never want to stop reading them. This book is no exception! It reeled me in right  from the beginning and kept get better and better. It wasn't too hard to figure out, but Shannon? She definitely kept me guessing. I wasn't sure if she would stay with her boyfriend or go out with the detective. I liked the uncertainty. :-) If you enjoy suspenseful fiction, you will definitely want to check this book out.

Review: Stress Test

Stress Test by Richard L. Mabry, M.D. is a suspenseful thriller centered around a doctor. I've never read anything by him, and all I can say is he is now one of my favorite authors! It kept me on the edge of my seat trying to figure out who did what. Definitely one of the best thrillers I've ever read. It was kind of a mix of Hannah Alexander and Dee Henderson so if you like those authors you will probably like this book. :-)

Dr. Matt Newman's life is finally going the way he wants it to. He's given up his private practice for more regular hours as an academic at the hospital to be with his girlfriend. All that changes one night when he is kidnapped from the hospital parking lot. He manages to escape, but in doing so he ends up in the ICU. Once he wakes up, he finds out he is charged with murder. Confused and disoriented, Matt can't believe he is in question when he is the victim. When his girlfriend breaks up with him over it all, he just wants to give up. If she won't believe him then who will?

Sandra Murray is a criminal defense lawyer and accepts Dr. Newman's case. Once she meets him, she knows he is innocent, but who is targeting him? And why? Join this fast-paced adventure as they race to discover who is behind the crimes before Matt is convicted.

What a fantastic read!! It's a must have for your summer reading list. :-)
