Review: While Love Stirs

While Love Stirs by Lorna Seilstad is the second book in the The Gregory Sisters series. I really enjoyed the first story, but the second book is even better! Definitely one of the best books I've read this year. It was filled with humor, love, and nuggets of truth to help with our walk with God.

Charlotte Gregory has just graduated from Fannie Farmer's School of Cookery and is ready to share her new skills with the world, but because she is a woman no one will hire her at a restaurant. When she wins a cooking contest, she is offered a job from the gas company. She'll get to travel around and give demonstrations of the benefits of using a gas stove!

Dr. Joel Brooks is the youngest assistant director of the hospital who also has a penchant for order when in pops unorderly Charlotte wanting to change how hospital food is made and served to the patients. Her ideas have merit, but there are no funds to fix things anyway and even if there were, he needs all the money he can get for more important things. Charlotte finds Joel irritating to the extreme. Even without the necessary funds, she is sure he could at least let her teach the nurses about food preparation and presentation. Determined to win him over to her way of thinking might just cause more sparks than she bargained for.

This was a funny, lighthearted story with some deeper moments here and there. One of the best parts of the book is all the facts about cooking. I found it absolutely fascinating and, if you love to bake or cook, you will probably love this novel, too. I can't wait to read the next book about the youngest sister!

I was given this book free from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
