Book Review

Vigilante's Bride by Yvonne Harris is about eighteen year old Emily who is sent from the orphanage she grew up in to Montana Territory as a mail order bride to Bart Axel. When she was on the stage coach, a robber stopped them and stole only $1,000 from Axel's banker.

The robber, Luke Sullivan, believes he isn't stealing because he feels he's righting a wrong Bart Axel did to his father. Luke believes Axel won the land from his dad in an unfair poker game along with the $1,000 which left him and his family destitute. When Luke hears that Emily is going to marry Axel, he decides to save her since she doesn't know what he is really like. He takes her kicking and screaming to New Hope which is the orphanage he grew up in. Axel isn't happy about it. The whole book is about the fued between the two men and how much land New Hope really does own. And of course, the love blossoming between Luke and Emily.

I didn't like how Luke took the money and never admitted it to the sherriff. It doesn't matter if he heard it from someone who was about to die, you shouldn't take the law into your hands. I know that's what he used to do because he was a vigilante, but still I hated that. He also never admitted how he got Emily, and Luke and Molly, the head of New Hope, told her not to. What's with all the lies? They are supposed to be Christians. I also hated how Axel talked to Emily at the beginning of the book. That could have been easily left out.

I wouldn't reccommend this book.

I was given this book free from Bethany House as long as I review it.
